Asanas As Body Mudras: From Posture Practice To Moving Meditation

When we evolve from simply "doing" yoga poses to discovering and experiencing the specific energetic qualities inherent within them, yoga asana becomes a more holistically transformative practice.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the Upanishadic map of the koshas, the movements of prana within asana, our embodiment of the elements and the intersection of our bodies and psyches. This exploration into the asanas’ underlying subtleties enriches our perspective and takes us from making well-aligned shapes to organically experiencing asanas as body mudras that give us the power to awaken and guide energy in ways that enhance awareness and dissolve regressive psychological patterns.

Inspirational Quote:

“Live a passionate life – find something you believe in, something that ignites you, something that makes you feel both angry and ecstatic. Now give voice to your passion – don’t get mired in overanalysis of whether what you’re saying is important enough or articulate enough. Trust the evolutionary process and know someone is ready to hear exactly what you are saying, the way you’re saying it, today. Think big – smallness consciousness is part of the illusion (maya) that keeps us trapped in reductive, regressive cycles of behavior. If YOU don’t make your unique offering, who will? You and your passions are not small, you are greater than you’ve ever imagined.”
